James’ appointment reflects AerFin’s long-standing membership of AFRA and the strong relationship between the two organisations. As the aviation industry continues to face urgent environmental challenges, the need for sustainable end-of-life solutions has never been greater.

Commenting on his appointment, James said:

I’m privileged to be joining the Board of Directors at AFRA. AerFin has proudly supported AFRA for many years, and we’ve built a strong, collaborative relationship grounded in shared values.

As the aviation industry continues to evolve, AFRA’s mission to promote sustainable, safe and responsible aircraft recycling aligns closely with our purpose – to breathe new life into aviation. This role represents a powerful opportunity to help shape best practices across the industry, while unlocking new avenues for growth and innovation. I’m excited about what we can continue to achieve together.

Beyond AerFin’s direct involvement, the appointment also signals the business’s ambition to promote a more mature and collaborative industry debate around the role of recycling, repairing and reusing aircraft, engines and parts throughout the lifecycle. It’s a critical conversation that must involve the whole ecosystem — from OEMs and operators to governments and regulators.

As the industry works to transition to the next generation of aircraft and propulsion systems, AerFin is calling for greater alignment and coordination across all stakeholders. Unlocking the full potential of circular strategies today will be key to managing the transition to tomorrow’s technologies responsibly and efficiently.

With a growing global customer base of more than 600 airlines, lessors and MROs, AerFin remains committed to extending the operational life of aviation assets while reducing environmental impact. James’ appointment reinforces AerFin’s role as an industry leader — driving forward practical, responsible solutions across the aircraft lifecycle and supporting the future of sustainable aviation.
